NSA members include some of the finest artists in the USA. They work in a variety of media. This page is designed to assist you in your search for artwork, artists to commission, or a teacher. Each NSA member has the opportunity to works of art on the NSA website for a fee. Those who have elected to do so are listed below. Gary Bailey, NSA Gary Bailey is an accomplished pencil and watercolor artist. He has his Bachelor's and Master's degrees and is a National Society of Artists signature member. Mr. Bailey has studied with many outstanding artists in Texas, New Mexico and Wyoming and spent the summer of 2000 in Yellowstone National Park studying and painting. He has used his knowledge and experiences to develop his own unique landscape and wildlife painting style. Mr. Bailey travels throughout the U.S. on extended painting outings. Dura Dittmar, NSA Dura Dittmar is a Signature Member of the NSA. She has won numerous awards in local and national competitions. She grew up in San Antonio, near her grandmother, who taught her the art of porcelain painting. Dura has an A.A.S. degree in Advertising Art and worked as a commercial artist for several years before returning to college to earn a B.S. in Elementary Education. She has worked as an elementary school art teacher since 1993. Dura uses a variety of media including porcelain, watercolor, pencil, soft pastels, colored pencils, pen and ink, and acrylics. Dura describes her art as realistic and illustrative in style. She paints everything from the tiniest Christmas ornament to full-size murals. Her favorite subjects to paint are wildlife and the whimsical dragons and court jesters of the medieval era. Her love of dragons has earned her the nickname, The Dragon Lady. Carol Biering Hendrix, a Las Vegas, Nevada resident, was born and raised in Texas where she developed a deep interest in horses and art. After graduating from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor's degree in Education/Art, she began specializing in commissioned oil portraits and photography of horses, other animals, florals and landscapes. She has been involved in various art activities since that time, and her work has been included in many private collections, galleries and shows throughout the Southwest. She is a member of the Equine Art Guild, the Canine Art Guild, the International Equine Art Association, Las Vegas Art Museum, Women Artists of the West (WAOW associate), the American Academy of Women Artists (Artist Member) and the American Academy of Equine Artists (AAEA associate) and the National Society of Artists. Parrish Hirasaki, NSA Parrish Hirasaki is an oil portrait artist. She works primarily from photographs that she takes of the subject. Parrish also paints in watercolor and has been a children's book illustrator. Her watercolor subjects are an eclectic mix - steeples against sunset skies, athletes in motion, fanciful settings, florals. Rhea Knight, NSA An avid hiker and backpacker, Rhea Knight gains inspiration for her landscape and wildlife paintings through backcountry travels in her native Appalachia and throughout the American West. She is an award-winning, self-taught artist whose work has been selected for exhibit in national and international juried shows including Arts for the Parks Top 100 yearlong national tour. Gay Paratore-Zarana, NSA, TWS Gay Paratore is the founder of the National Society of Artists. She has her Bachelor of Arts and Masters degree and studied in New York City at the National Academy of Art and at the Art Students League. She has studied art in Mexico, Italy, Austria, and Germany. Her work has won top awards in prestigious juried shows, and she has had numerous one-woman shows. Her work is on display at the Fine Arts Gallery in Galveston, Texas.Gay teaches private classes in Santa Fe and Manvel, Texas. She works in all media and teaches students of all ages and levels. She is a state certified art consultant and is licensed to conduct art teacher training. Gay is a former art department head at Alvin Community College and has taught at College of the Mainland and the Carrizzo Lodge Art School in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Leona Pleasant is a native Texan who grew up on the Gulf Coast of Texas. Her love of marine life, boating, beaches and lighthouses inspires many of her original paintings. As an artist and a free-lance published photographer, Leona's works have been selected for exhibition in juried shows, art galleries and publications throughout Texas. Her original watercolors combined with mixed media, gouache and acrylic express a unique sense of color, composition and design. BRILLIANT COLOR is her style. Leona accepts commissions. Diana Selby, NSA Diana Selby is a graduate of the University of Houston Clear Lake with a Bachelor's degree in Art/English education and currently holds a teaching position at Alvin I.S.D. in high school art. Diana works primarily in colored pencil and watercolor, and also experiments in various mixed media concentrating in florals, portraits, and still-lifes. Laurence Seredowych, NSA Born in Paris, Laurence Seredowych now lives and works in Santa Fe, New Mexico. A Signature Member of NSA, she is an award-winning artist who has participated in numerous juried shows. Her paintings are included in many private collections. Laurence is also a Signature Member of the Catharine Lorillard Wolf Art Club, a prestigious organization of women artists, founded in 1896. www.clwac.com Laurence's love of gardening and collectibles directs her work toward still-life and floral paintings, but she is equally at ease with landscapes or portraits.
